Infineon’s DRIVECORE Plan for the AURIX RC1 Software Transition
Moving existing software to new chips is a practical business question for automotive suppliers. Infineon’s 4 November 2026 announcement presents AURIX RC1 as its first microcontroller platform using RISC-V, an open standard for processor instructions.
The software support around that platform deserves attention alongside the hardware. For readers following the car industry, it provides a useful way to assess how a supplier intends to help customers make a technology transition.
Moving existing software to new hardware
Infineon says DRIVECORE combines its software and partners’ software into integrated bundles to support migration from existing AURIX and TRAVEO T2G platforms to AURIX RC1. Source: software-ecosystem section.
Software migration means adapting existing code to a different hardware platform. The business question is how much useful work can be carried forward and how clearly the remaining development and verification tasks are understood.
That makes support an important part of evaluating a new platform. A useful assessment asks what the tools handle, what the engineering team must still adapt and what evidence supports the result. Software support is part of the supplier’s effort to make the new hardware practical for existing development teams.
Development before device samples
The company describes virtual prototyping for software development and validation before hardware availability. It targets AURIX RC1 samples in the first half of 2027. Source: development approach and sample timing.
Read those as different stages of the programme. When following progress, identify whether an update concerns work in a virtual environment, sample devices or a finished application. Keeping the stage explicit makes later announcements easier to compare.
If your industry research is part of planning a new-car purchase, use AutoCred’s loan eligibility check to review an indicative eligible amount and estimated EMI before shortlisting. Results are indicative; final eligibility, rate, tenure and approval depend on the lender.
Which progress signals matter?
Look for a clear account of the software being adapted, the environment in which it was tested and the work still required. A demonstration becomes more informative when its scope is described precisely. Keep measured outcomes separate from the development goals stated at an announcement.
For a vehicle purchase, build your decision around the offered car and your household’s needs. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the functions you expect to use, and retain a written equipment list with the quotation. Assess the complete ownership proposal alongside your budget.
Before your dealer visit, AutoCred’s eligibility checker can help you consider an indicative eligible amount and estimated EMI against your down payment and ownership costs. Results are indicative; final eligibility, rate, tenure and approval depend on the lender.
